The river Langa fishes 12 rods in the prime weeks, divided into four rods per beat fishing three beats, each beat fishing two rods on the upper and two rods on the lower section. Ranking well into the top ten most prolific Salmon rivers in Iceland, Langa maintains its water height with a flow control from the top lake Langavatn. This means that even in low water conditions for other nearby rivers, Langa has enough water stored to maintain good flow rate for up to four weeks.
Langa is ideally suited to single-handed rods with floating lines, best married with small flies and tubes in patterns such as the legendary 'Langa Fancy'. Other favourites include the Red Frances, Sunray Shadow and almost any micro-tube, especially when hitched.
With such a large array of recognised pools and falls there is a great diversity of fishing water. Almost all pools are easily accessible with well-constructed access tracks allowing anglers of all ages an easy access to the pristine fishing.
Langa News
This spring the small damn at the river's source has been improved to provide better water levels in the event of low rainfall during the season. This will offer 3 to 4 weeks more water than before and will make Langa one of the most reliable rivers for water in the South West.
